Equipment: Feeds a family of 4- 6

Crock Pot, Low Setting, 6 hours…

Shopping List:

2.5 Lbs. of Beef Chuck Roast

1- Tablespoon Olive Oil

2-Tablespoons Minced Garlic

1-    Onion ( Yellow or Red)

1-    12oz. Bottle of your Favorite BBQ Sauce

1-    Can of French Onion Soup

1-Tablespoon of Course Ground Pepper

2-Tablespoons of McCormick’s Montreal Seasoning

Optional Item: King’s Hawaiian Rolls for Slider Buns!

Cook Like A Dad Steps:

Take Beef and remove from package and sprinkle seasoning, (Pepper and Montreal) on both sides of beef. Make sure to rub the seasoning into the meat because you want the seasoning to slow cook into the texture of the beef. Once both sides are seasoned, set the meat aside and finely chop half an onion. You can use any type of onion for this recipe, (I used a Yellow Onion because it was the most affordable at the grocery store that day).  The half of onion should leave you with about 1- cup to be used for the crock pot. As you will see in the video, I have my daughter Mia-Isabella helping me with chopping the onion. A ‘Cook Like a Dad’ rule of thumb is to always keep the blade of the knife and the onion wet at all times to avoid the fumes getting to your eyes… because, there is no crying in baseball, and there is certainly no crying in the kitchen!

Prepping the Crock Pot.

Set your Crock Pot on a Low temperature and line the bottom and sides with the Olive Oil. This meal is easy to set up in the morning and you will need at least 6 hours of crock pot cooking time to maximize the flavor. Drop the onions and garlic on the bottom of the Crock Pot and make sure to spread them evenly across the bottom. Now empty the can of French Onion Soup into the bottom of the crock pot. Don’t worry; this is plenty of liquid in the crock pot to keep your beef moist. Place the beef in the crock pot and set your cooking time for at least 6 hours on a LOW setting.

6 Hours Later…Mash the Meat

Now that you have gone about your business all day, it’s time to come home to that sweet smell of Crock Pot Success. You will discover that the crock pot has created more ‘juice’ than when you left it. Don’t worry, when you are ready to serve this meal, I want you to keep about a cup of the drippings and drain the rest. At this point you can turn off the crock pot and allow the beef to cool.

When you are ready to serve, drain accordingly, and have your favorite BBQ sauce ready. Take any kitchen spatula, large fork or any utensil that will help you ‘mash and separate the beef’ while you pour your BBQ sauce into the crock pot beef. Continue to pour contents of the BBQ sauce or to your taste.

You can always add King’s Hawaiian rolls with the BBQ Beef and you have a perfect Hawaiian Slider that every kid will enjoy!
